Daily Thoughts

Older by the Day

Well, if you read my posting a few days ago about feeling old, you will understand this post a little better. It appears that if I wasn’t feeling “old” enoughthe other day by not being able to dance along to Just Dancing on the Wii or Singing along to Rock Band, I have now been shown by my adult children that my “sayings” are so old fashion. Apparently, when I say, “let’s have taters, instead of rice” the kids think that is hilarious. When I remarked that, “i’m tireder than the day is long” they were yelling at me to “stop” with the old sayings. I got so hurt that I ran to the bathroom and tripped on the steps that go up to the toilet where my grandson’s training potty sits over the commode. As I try to straddle the steps, thinking back over the years when this was all just a part of a normal day of training potties and cooking pan lids laying all over the kitchen floor, it reminded me that even if my “sayings” are a little out of date and I can’t seem to enjoy Dora the Explorer the way I use to when my kids were little, I am ever so grateful that this season of life affords me the luxury of never having to listen to Sponge Bob in the background or having to take the training potty seat down before using the toilet. Getting older does have it’s rewards, “you’re darn tootin'”.
